Workplace Menopause Workshop
We were delighted to welcome Lyndsay Harrison from Workplace Menopause Support to deliver a workshop to our team. Lyndsay gave us an enlightening and invaluable lunchtime talk on the impact of menopause within the workplace, and how best to support those experiencing perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms.
We would strongly encourage everyone to get in touch with Lyndsay to help break the taboo of discussing the menopause, and to educate all in the workplace, and we look forward to continuing our conversations within HLA.

Congratulations Ros, RIAS Conservation Accredited Architect

International Women's Day
Some of the team gathered at Calton Hill at sunrise this morning to take part in ‘The Exoneration of Agnes Sampson’, a moving and transformational art event by the practice’s long time friend Laura Graham.
Laura asks: How can we witness the burning of another human being and not be changed forever? This morning we stood in silence as contemporary witnesses.
Coinciding with International Women’s Day, the event commemorates and raises awareness of Agnes Sampson, one of the first people to be burnt as a witch in Scotland. Thousands more were burnt, most of them women.
More information on the Laura’s work can be found here and here.

Inspirational Organisations
To mark International Women’s Day we would like to highlight some organisations doing fantastic work to promote women in architecture and the built environment, and draw attention to the often overlooked role of women in our profession.
Missing in Architecture focus on four interconnected themes; Equality & Diversity, Education & Inspiration, Identity & Practice and the future. They are interested in filling in the missing gaps in architecture, and providing a voice for those that are often overlooked.

International Women's Day
On International Women’s Day 2021 we wish to acknowledge and celebrate of all the wonderful and talented women in our team here at Helen Lucas Architects!
