Living Spaces
Full refurbishment and extension of a detached villa in The Grange area of Edinburgh.
Two storey stone side extensions and substantial rear extension and garage conversion have allowed a large family to have generous interlinked living spaces on the ground floor. These have been designed in such a way that spaces have a visual link but acoustic privacy can be maintained between the spaces.

Overview of the rear of the property. The two storey stone built extensions can be seen to the left & right. The full width single storey modern extension houses the kitchen, dining and family living room.

The hallway forms an axis through the house linking the formal living spaces to the front and the more relaxed family area at the rear.

View from private living room at garden level.

The fire place permits low level views between the kitchen diner and living room. The living room is deliberately lower so the space flows out into the sandstone courtyard.

The kitchen has a walnut finish to match the parquet and floorboards which are used throughtout the ground floor.

The study where quiet home working can happen overlooks and links the formal reception room to the front and the free flowing family area to the Rear. Although the study is internal it receives light all day due to the houses east-west orientation & continuous rooflight between the single storey extension & existing villa.

The Study has floor to ceiling shelves and a rolling ladder constructed from walnut.

The master ensuite is located on the upper level of the stone extension.

The timber details are in walnut, a recurring theme throughout the house.
