Trossachs Estate Swimming Pool

Living Spaces

The Trossachs Estate is, and historically has been, a home supported by various ancillary buildings and land. Helen Lucas Architects have been working with the occupants over several years to progressively improve the material quality of the site and protect the longevity of the estate.

Nestled on the bank of a serene, man-made swimming pond, the pool building was designed to provide a functional, calm space, its floor level around five meters below the buildings above. The material palette of smooth grey pre-cast concrete and vertical, natural tone larch cladding harmonises with the greater landscape of the site through a green roof, planted with wildflowers.

Having realised a renovation of the original farmhouse, two new-build pod spaces, the swimming pond and pool, Helen Lucas Architects are currently working on site to construct a Walled Garden, a gym and a workshop. Each phase of the project serves as a continuation of the site’s developing architectural language, further instilling a sense of place and unique identity of a thoroughly modern Scottish estate.
