Part II Architectural Assistant

Following the completion of her master’s degree, Ailie began working at Helen Lucas Architects in 2023. Motivated by the practice’s precise detailing and focus on using low-impact materials, Ailie was keen to gain experience in the sustainable retrofitting of historic buildings and the design of innovative new build homes, specific to people and place.

Having centred her studies around the environmental impact of construction materials, investigating the possibility of regenerative construction, Ailie’s education aligned well with HLA’s practice standards and ethos. 

Working across multiple projects within the practice, from urban retrofits to coastal new builds, Ailie’s work maintains a sense of harmony between the built, natural and historic environments, ensuring the use of honest, breathable materials are integrated for both function and sensitivity.
