The Fat Pony, a new venture from the owner of the acclaimed restaurant - The Dogs, is a wine bar sited in the heart of central Edinburgh.
Timber louvres and up-lit signage draw the eye into a uniquely shaped double unit located on Bread Street. Inside, the existing material palette of stone, brick, steel and timber is carefully preserved, exhibiting the original building’s character and charm. The new elements are bespoke and unique to the project; Douglas fir, mild steel, fabric panels and folded metal are the result of a focus on local craft and materiality.
Select splashes of colour bring together the old and new elements in a cosy, muted space. A historic window was unblocked and reinstated to flood the back end of the bar in natural light. The Fat Pony offers cheese, charcuterie, small plates and an eclectic selection of wines from across the globe.
