Mews House

Living Spaces

Located in the New Town Conservation area of Edinburgh, this category-B listed corner mews house has been completely renovated to create bright and open spaces for modern living.

The historic carriage entrance and former garage has been fully converted into a contemporary sleeping space with discrete auxiliary spaces containing a bathroom and utility room. A modern interpretation of the original coach doors preserves the building’s character whilst also bringing much needed light into the space. Bespoke shutters to the inside of the coach doors enable the space to be fully closed down in the evening.

The first floor has been converted from a one bedroom flat into an open living/ dining space. New rooflights brighten the interior, framing the beautiful bespoke kitchen by Alastair Letch Woodwork. Historic details have been retained and highlighted, including the exposed collar ties and stone lintol to the stove, preserving and enhancing the building’s original character.
